It looks like the mom does not care.
But the truth is more painful than that. 💔
The baby is crying, reaching out, shaking with fear and hunger. From the outside, it feels cruel. People see the tears and think, “Why mom not care baby?”
Most of the time, it is not because she doesn’t love her baby.
Sometimes the mother is too tired.
Her body is weak. She has no strength left to move, feed, or protect. Caring takes energy, and she may have nothing left to give.
Sometimes the mother is scared.
Danger may be nearby—predators, humans, loud noise. If she reacts, both of them could be hurt. Fear can freeze her.
Sometimes the mother is hungry or sick.
No food means no milk. No strength means no action. Love cannot work when the body is failing.
And sometimes… the hardest truth…
She wants to care, but she cannot.
The baby does not understand reasons.
The baby only feels:
-
“I am crying”
-
“I am scared”
-
“Mom is here, but not helping”
That is why it hurts so much to watch. 😭
To the baby, it feels like abandonment.
To the mother, it feels like failure and pain.
This is not lack of love.
This is exhaustion, fear, and nature’s cruelty.
A baby needs care now.
A mother sometimes has nothing left now.
That space between need and ability is where the tragedy lives.
Your sadness means you care.
Your heart feels the baby’s pain.
And that compassion matters. 💛🐒
